AIDS-focused initiatives are underway across
Southern Africa, including South Africa.
The South Africa Development Fund (SADF) is a U.S.-based tax exempt public charity focusing on grants to the most disadvantaged sectors of South Africa, including adults and children affected by AIDS.
Both organizations have received a “4-Star” rating from Charity Navigator.

In 2007, Mothering
Across Continents raised $44,000 (see Press Release).
The group directed $25,000 to the following three programs supported by
Save the Children and the South Africa Development Fund:
The Caring Schools project in Thabo Mofutsanyana, Free State, -- a pilot effort to provide daily meals in three high schools that together serve more than 1,000 children. See the Save the Children Fact Sheet.
The Woza Moya community care project -- helps equip aPlay Therapy

and after-school programs in KwaZulu-Natal
Thembalethu (HOPE), a project in Schoemansdal -- funds meals for children whose families do not have access to relevant social grants, as well as distributes seeds to home and community gardeners. Please visit www.thembalethu.org
