Save
the Children is the leading
independent
organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need
in the U.S.
and around the world.
Through the efforts of Save the Children USA
and members of the Save the Children International Alliance,
AIDS-focused initiatives are underway across
Southern Africa, including South Africa.
![]() The South Africa Development Fund (SADF) is a U.S.-based tax exempt public charity focusing on grants to the most disadvantaged sectors of South Africa, including adults and children affected by AIDS. Both organizations have received a “4-Star” rating from Charity Navigator. In 2007, Mothering
Across Continents raised $44,000 (see Press Release).
The group directed $25,000 to the following three programs supported by
Save the Children and the South Africa Development Fund:
The Caring Schools project in Thabo Mofutsanyana, Free State, -- a pilot effort to provide daily meals in three high schools that together serve more than 1,000 children. See the Save the Children Fact Sheet. The Woza Moya community care project -- helps equip a Thembalethu (HOPE), a project in Schoemansdal -- funds meals for children whose families do not have access to relevant social grants, as well as distributes seeds to home and community gardeners.
