Lyndall Hare
Dr. Lyndall Hare, Co-Founder, “Mothering Across Continents”

Until recently Lyndall was the Director of the Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Lifetime Learning Institute, and is currently a consultant and coach. A native of South Africa, Lyndall is the author of In the Belly of the Beast: South African Women’s Lives of Activism, Exile, and Aging (CPCC Press, 2004). She is a Member of the Board of the South Africa Development Fund (SADF), focused on funding programs in South Africa that address economic development, education, health and other community initiatives. In South Africa, Lyndall served as an anti-apartheid activist, working in Conflict Resolution and Peace Building. She has a Ph.D. in Gerontological Studies and a degree in Social Work.

Patricia Shafer
Patricia Shafer, Co-Founder, “Mothering Across Continents”

Patricia is president of Compel, Ltd., an international consulting and research firm founded in Charlotte, as well as
contributing author to Enlightened Power: How Women are Transforming the Practice of Leadership (Wiley/Jossey-Bass
2005). She has provided consulting and coaching services in 15 countries. She serves on the HIV/AIDS Leadership Council
of Save the Children USA – part of the International Save the Children Alliance, which works in 100-plus countries to
ensure real and lasting change in the lives of children. Patricia has an MSc in Consulting and Coaching for Change, Oxford
University, UK and HEC, France; and an MBA, Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
